Clubs

The Orpheum Children’s Science Museum is proud to offer a fun and educational option for students during their time out of school. The Orpheum’s clubs offer a unique opportunity for students to engage in hands-on exploration of science and technology.

Girls Do Science (K-5th)

This club will encourage and inspire girls to participate in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). We'll explore a wide variety of different topics by inviting special community guests who work in a variety of STEM fields. Each meeting will have a different guest, and always include hands-on activities sure to engage both former and new participants. Girls will develop critical thinking skills including predicting, experimenting, observing, interpreting and communicating.

Exploring Robotics (3rd-6th)

This is a great opportunity to learn robotics basics by working with LEGO Mindstorms®. Participants will work in teams to build models, attach sensors and motors that are plugged into a computer, and configure behaviors using a simple programming tool. Participants are challenged by various problems and work together with team members to find solutions. Students will guide their own learning by setting personal goals and objectives and reaching them with the help of their peers and instructors.
