Are you looking for a way to engage your students in science activities that will support the Illinois state standards and district curriculum, while maintaining the wonder and fun your children love? The Orpheum offers curriculum that is built around some of the most interesting and important science topics. Prices are $2.50/child ($25 minimum), chaperones are free of charge. Magnet Magic
: Illinois State Standards 11.A, 11.B, 12.D, 13.A - Students will probe the mysteries of magnetism and polarity by experimenting with a variety of games and activities. Experimentation will lead students to discover attraction and repulsion.Tense Water Drops
: Illinois State Standards 11.A, 11.B, 12.C, 13.A - Properties of water such as surface tension will be explored through experiments. Students will learn some exciting water tricks and participate in water drop maze races.Physics with Toys
: Illinois State Standards 11.A, 11.B, 12.D, 13.A - Learning becomes play as students identify physics factors that create motion in a variety of toys such as tops, rocket shooters, and rubber band cars.Kitchen Chemistry
: Illinois State Standards 11.A, 11.B, 12.C, 13.A - The scientific method will help students explore physical and chemical properties found in substances at home. Experiments will use common chemicals to introduce acids and bases.Simple Machines
: Illinois State Standards 11.A, 11.B, 12.D, 13.A - Students measure force using Newton springs to see how simple machines aid them in doing work. The program is brought to life by hands on activities in our newest exhibit, Castle Workalot.Meet our Critters
