April 18th: Earth Day Poster Contest Entries Due by 5 p.m.

Turn your trash into a work of art! 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places will be awarded in each group. Winners will receive gift certificates to the museum gift shop. We are looking for enthusiastic and interested volunteers to participate in our building, education and exhibit committees. Opportunities for both individuals and groups to participate in a rewarding an important organization in our community! Last Sunday of the month. Please register by the day before orientation.

May 8th: Barnes & Noble Bookfair Benefiting the Orpheum. 10-7 p.m.

Come and enjoy activities and performers all day at Barnes and Noble Bookstore! Orpheum activities and games will be held from 10-5pm, as well as children’s story readings on every hour. Other activities include: Magic Show (11a-noon) 1pm – 2pm Wade and Parfait Acoustic Music (1-2p) BT’s Magic Show (3-4p) Crazy/Agile Acoustic Music (6-7p). The18th Annual Kid's Building Fair is a highly anticipated event, and is just around the corner! This award winning event gives children an entertaining and educational introduction to the building trades and coincides with Historic Preservation Week. This event celebrates a rich heritage of the arts, building trades, community history, and a hands-on understanding of the built environment. more >

Where does all of our stuff come from and where does it go? Ipods, Razors and X-boxes, oh my! What’s all that talk about global warming, anyway? And what does it have to do with our stuff? Join in to bust the myths about stuff, landfills, global warming, and even design your own earth friendly products. Programming developed through an Institute of Museum and Library Sciences grant. Join us in hosting Champaign-Urbana's Theater Company in their Aspects of Acting at the Orpheum. An experiential camp with a dramatic twist and every day a new adventure is included. In this week will be stage direction, improvisation, acting technique, and theatre games. On Friday friends and family will join in the dramatic conclusion for a performance by participants.
