Girls Do Science

Today's girls are tomorrow's scientists

"The solution to adult problems tomorrow depends on how our children grow up today."

- Margaret Mead

The Girls Do Science Club gives girls opportunities to learn about different areas of science from the women who perform this important work, in a fun and interactive environment. We hope you show your support of science education by joining our club, or by donating your time or financial support.

The Girls Do Science Club links girls with the many science and math learning opportunities in our community in a fun an interactive environment. Small groups meet monthly to visit with scientists, engineers, and doctors and also attend related local events. Destinations have included the Anita Purves Nature Center, local farms and prairies, the Beckman Institute, Staerkel Planetarium, and Nature Conservancy field trips. This spring you’ll explore topics such as computer science, geology, biology, physics and more!

The club meets twice a month. The first meeting is a hands-on lesson or activity to introduce a scientific topic. The second meeting includes a field trip to a lab, business, or organization where scientists talk to the girls about their field of work.

Club members receive e-news of special events. Girls also earn annual recognition prizes for participation. We hope you show your support of science education by joining our club, or by donating your time or financial support. For additional information, please contact Roberta.
